Set Up Project BIM Settings for Export

Configure which BIM properties are included in your project's IFC, RFA, and LDBIM exports

Written by Julien

This export dialog allows for the generation and configuration of component-based BIM properties, which can later be analyzed in a CAD system or IFC viewer. It is located within the Export tab under the BIM Exports group.

Prerequisites

  • A project open in DigiPara Liftdesigner.

  • A rough idea of which BIM standard(s) your recipient expects (e.g. plain IFC4 properties, Revit-specific shared parameters, COBie UK, or a specific object database like BIMobject).

Steps

  1. Open Project BIM Settings.
On the Export ribbon tab, in the BIM Exports group, click Project BIM Settings.

  2. Set the Master Project BIM Settings.
Expand Master Project BIM Settings and choose an IFC Version (Default, 4.3, 4.0, or the legacy 2x3) and a LOD (Default, 100 through 500, or MAX). These apply at the document level — every sheet and view frame whose own LOD is set to "Default" follows this setting.

  3. Enable the standard BIM property groups you need.
Expand Use Standard BIM Properties from DigiPara BIM Library and check the groups relevant to your recipient — for example Autodesk® Revit® (Revit shared/standard parameters), BIMobject, COBie UK, or IFC4 Standard Properties. Use Reload from DataBase if a group looks out of date. Expand a group to enable individual properties within it rather than the whole group.

  4. Choose which component types carry BIM properties.
Expand Select component types to have BIM Properties and check the component categories you want included — for example, under Typical Important Components: LDXCar, LDXDoor, LDXShaft, and similar. Only the component types you check here will actually export the properties you enabled in the previous step, even if a property is otherwise configured for that component type.

  5. Save your configuration and confirm.
Click the save icon next to Project BIM Settings: at the bottom of the dialog to store this configuration as a reusable preset (use the open icon to load one later on a different project). Click OK to apply the settings to this project.

The properties can be individually activated / deactivated. Following standard properties can be set:
