Step 10 of 14: Copy and Assemble the Lights Hierarchy

PL9.10: Manage Lights Components

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Ceiling lights are the tutorial's example of a CAD-model-based BIM component, following a different workflow from the native-profile components built so far.

Prerequisites

  • The Car Walls have mirrors and hand rails.

Steps

1.) Understand the two-level light hierarchy. Lights use a two-level roadmap: Step 1: Single Light Items → Step 2: Lights.

2.) Copy the Single Light Item and the Lights component. In Datamanager, copy both using the same 3-step wizard as before.

3.) Describe the Single Light Item and the Lights component, and define rows/columns. Add descriptions for both, assign the Single Light Item to the Lights component, and define the ceiling light rows and columns arrangement.

4.) Assign the Lights component to the Car Ceiling. Determine related BIM components for the Car Ceiling and assign the finished Lights component.

Result

The Lights component is described, arranged into rows and columns, and attached to the Car Ceiling.
