Step 2 of 17: Create View Frames, Change View Types, and Rotate Sections

A3.2: Creating and retyping view frames, rotating vertical sections and entrance details.

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Prerequisites

  • The practice project LDTrainingSample.ld3 is created and saved.

  • LD Typical Views For Your Elevator sheet is opened.

Steps

Create new view frames and change view types

1.) Add a new view frame. Via the View Frame tab's group, always adds a new plan view to the drawing by default.

If you want to delete a view frame, you can use the Delete key, or the Remove View Frame option under the View Frame tab's View Frame group

2.) Change a view's type. Every view is created from the same global 3D BIM model.

Change its type via the View Frame tab's Type group to create any kind of view from that one data model.

Rotate vertical sections and entrances

3.) Rotate a vertical section. Use the corresponding view frame control to rotate a vertical section view.

4.) Modify entrance details via view frame properties. Adjust an entrance's location and its visible distance above/below the entrance. Walls are numbered Wall 1 = Front, Wall 2 = Rear, Wall 3 = Left, Wall 4 = Right.

5.) Rotate entrance details. Rotate via Option 1: View Frame Properties, or Option 2: View Direction group.

Result

You can add, remove, and retype view frames, and rotate vertical sections and entrance details using the correct wall numbering (Front/Rear/Left/Right).
