How to hide IFC imported elevation levels

Disable wrongly imported level annotations from a linked IFC file via Visibility/Graphics Overrides in Revit.

Symptom: After linking an IFC file into a Revit project, one or more level annotations from the IFC file appear in the view alongside your own Revit levels — for example a level labeled "Ebene 1" (German for "Level 1") that doesn't belong to your project and shouldn't be shown.

Cause: IFC files can carry their own level/storey annotations. When the file is linked into Revit, Revit displays these along with your project's native levels unless they're explicitly hidden.

Solution:

  1. Open Visibility/Graphics Overrides for the view (Revit's View tab, or type VG).

  2. Switch to the Revit Links tab and set the display for your linked IFC file to <Custom>.

  3. Open the Annotation Categories tab for that link.

  4. Uncheck Levels, then click OK.

Result: The level annotations from the linked IFC file no longer display in this view — only your project's own levels remain visible.

ATTENTION: This hides the IFC levels only in the current view (Visibility/Graphics Overrides is view-specific). If the same unwanted levels show up in other views, this needs to be repeated there, or applied via a view template
