Export 3D format outputs

Export the current 3D view of your DigiPara Liftdesigner project, so you can open it in a 3D CAD application, review or render it.

Written by Sabine Bunese

Prerequisites

  • A project is open with the 3D view you want to export currently active — the export uses the content of the current active view frame.

  • To open the exported file afterwards: AutoCAD 2004+ (3D-DWG), Autodesk® Design Review 2009+ (DWF), a compatible 3D CAD program such as Autodesk® Inventor® or SolidWorks (STEP/SAT), or the free POV-Ray renderer (POV).

Steps

  1. Open the Export ribbon tab. Click Export in the ribbon.

  2. Click the button for the format you need, in the "3D View Frame Exports" group.

    • Click 3D DWG to export a 3D-DWG file for AutoCAD.

    • Click DWF to export a DWF file for Autodesk Design Review.

    • Click STEP or SAT to export a file for other 3D CAD programs.

    • Click POV to export a POV-Ray render file of the current active view frame.

  3. Choose a save location and confirm. In the save dialog, choose the folder, optionally adjust the file name, and click Save.

Result

The 3D content is saved as a 3D-DWG, DWF, STEP, SAT, or POV file at the location you chose. For example, opening an exported STEP or SAT file in Autodesk® Inventor® loads the elevator model as native 3D geometry, ready for further work in your CAD environment.

For a POV file, use the free POV-Ray tool to render the exported file.

TIP: See the POV-Ray application's own documentation for rendering instructions.
