Managing and Modifying Elevator Projects in EAO-R

Written by Sabine Bunese

You have the flexibility to modify any configuration of your elevator projects at any time. This includes the building site, the building's parameters, and even the selected brand.

Changes can be local (happening within the Revit environment) or remote (requiring the model to be reloaded from the EAO Cloud or information to be sent to the server).

Note: After the initial launch, you must start EAO-R by clicking 'Home' under the Elevatorarchitect group.

Changing the building site

To adjust the parameters of your project's physical location:

  • Go to the Add-Ins tab.

  • Select 'Site' in the EAO-R group.

  • The site configurator will initialize, allowing you to set up the necessary site parameters.

  • Click 'Finish' to confirm the changes.

Changing the building information

Modifying the building's overall parameters is similar to the site configuration process:

  • Open the building configurator by clicking 'Building' in the Add-Ins tab (within the EAO-R group).

  • The 'Modify Building' window will open, and you can adjust the building name and type.

  • Click 'Finish' to confirm the changes.

Renaming the elevator group

You can rename elevator groups via the Elevatorarchitect window in Revit:

  • Simply change the designation in the 'Name' field.

  • The change will automatically apply in Revit.

Changes that require synchronization

Customizing the Family Prefix

You can customize the prefix for the imported Revit families for better visualization in the Project Browser:

  • Click the field below 'Family Prefix' to insert your prefix.

  • Click 'Update' to start the new import process.

Changing the Level of Development (LOD)

The imported elevator model can have three different LODs:

  • LOD100 - only the shaft hole is loaded.

  • LOD200 - cabin, car door and landing doors are shown.

  • LOD300 - the complete elevator model is loaded.

It is recommended that you choose the desired LOD before creating a new elevator project. The model or group will be loaded according to this setting.

  • Select the desired LOD in the EAO-R group on the Add-Ins tab.

  • To reload the model, click 'Update' in the drop-down menu of the corresponding elevator group.

Global Update

All these changes can be set globally by choosing 'Update All' in the Revit window. This will update all elevator models in the building.

Changes in the Revit environment

Set up a new position in the building

To set a new position in the building, you have three options:

Option A: Pick a Point

  1. Select the corresponding elevator drop-down menu and click 'Pick a new point'.

  2. Select the new insert point on the building plan.

  3. Click 'Update location in Revit' to finalize the change.

Option B: Insert Coordinates

  • Enter the new coordinates (X, Y, Angle) in the fields under 'Location in Building'.

  • Click 'Update location in Revit' to apply the changes.

Option C: Use Revit Move/Rotate Commands

  • Select the metric coordinate system (MCS) family relative to the elevator model you wish to change.

  • Use the standard Revit Move or Rotate commands to adjust the position as desired.

  • To commit the change back to the EAO-R data, click 'Update location in Revit'.

Copying an elevator group

It is also possible to copy an elevator group using the 'Copy' function from Autodesk Revit.

  • Select the metric coordinate system (MCS) and click 'Copy' on the Revit interface.

  • Set the position for the new elevator group and click 'Update All'.

  • The groups will be reloaded.

Customizing the elevator group

After creating a new elevator, you have the option to fully reconfigure the project, including changes to the brand, elevator payload, and other specifications.

  • Select 'Configure' for the elevator group you wish to change.

  • The Elevator Configurator will start.

  • Make your desired changes using the configurator.
For detailed instructions, see: Configure Elevator Unit

  • Click 'Update' to start the synchronization process and apply the changes.
