Integrate an Excel project automation

Control your DigiPara Liftdesigner project via an Excel spreadsheet.

Written by Sabine Bunese

Prerequisites

  • An Excel Project Integration report already set up, with the parameter you want to change mapped in column A of the SyncWithLD sheet.

  • The target parameter must be directly editable in Liftdesigner itself. Values that Liftdesigner computes rather than lets you enter directly are shown grayed out in Liftdesigner's own edit mode and cannot be changed via Excel either.

Steps

  1. Save your project.
If you haven't already — this activates the Excel Reporting window.

  2. Open the Excel Reporting window.
In the ribbon's Windows group, click the Excel Reporting icon.

  3. Create a new report.
In the Excel Reporting window's toolbar, click Create a new report. Liftdesigner creates a new Excel file, saved automatically next to your project's .ld3 file, already containing a SyncWithLD worksheet with the columns DTV_VARNAME, DTV_VALUE, DTV_MODE and SYNC_MODE ready to use.

  4. Add a project value to the report.
In the Data tree, right-click the parameter you want to report on and choose Copy for Program: <parameter path> (e.g. Shaft0.Car.CD). Paste it into column A of the SyncWithLD sheet.

  5. Set the sync mode and read the value. In column D ( SYNC_MODE) next to your new row, enter the synchronization mode wished:
    - 1 — read property from Liftdesigner
    - 2 — write the Excel value back to Liftdesigner
    - 3 — read the current Liftdesigner value and write changes back

  6. Enter the new value.
Type the value you want in column B (DTV_VALUE) for that row.

  7. Click Accept changes.
Liftdesigner applies the new value to your project.

Result

Your Liftdesigner project updates with the value(s) you entered in Excel — visible immediately in the drawing, 3D view, and Data tree.
