Customize a buffer

Select and activate a buffer, set how many buffers are present, and configure its dimensions.

Written by Sabine Bunese

Prerequisites

  • A DigiPara Liftdesigner project is open, with a counterweight or car frame buffer already present.

Select a different buffer

  1. Open the buffer properties.
Click Buffer 0 in the breadcrumb or on the drawing — its properties appear in the Properties window, titled Buffer 0 [Buffer0.].

  2. Choose a different buffer type.
In the [0020] General group, click the Type value field to open the Select Product dialog, and choose a buffer product from the component library.

Set the number of buffers and their state

  1. Activate more buffers.
In the [0255] Buffer Options group, select the number of buffers from the list.

NOTE: The parent component must support multiple buffers for this property to function correctly.

  2. Set the buffer state.
Choose whether the buffer displays uncompressed or compressed in all view frames.

  3. Rotate the buffer.
For non simmetrical geometry, it may be necessary to set an angle for the buffer.

Adapt the buffer dimensions

  1. Open the Extended Buffer Settings.
In the [0256] Buffer Dimensions group, click the Extended field to open the dialog for detailed geometry.

  2. Set User defined values.
Check User defined to edit the fields manually. Change the values for the buffer, plunger or base height and diameter.

  3. Select Buffer fixed at car / counterweight if the buffer's geometry should be referenced to the moving car or counterweight frame.

  4. Click Apply to preview the change without closing the dialog, or OK to apply it and close.

TIP: Set either the buffer height (H3) or the base height (H5) to adapt automatically, but not both at the same time.

Result: The buffer is activated, dimensioned, and positioned, with its detailed spring/plunger, buffer, and buffer base geometry set as configured.
