Step 1 of 14: Understand the Workflow and Create the Practice Elevator

PL9.1: Knowledge and Preparation Steps in Liftdesigner

Written by Alexandra Göttert

This article is part of a strict, sequential step-by-step tutorial for building a complete cabin design — walls, ceiling, floor, mirrors, hand rails, lights, and custom render colors/surfaces. Follow the steps in order — each later step builds on the result of the one before it.

Prerequisites

  • DigiPara Liftdesigner and DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager are installed, with write access to the DigiPara BIM Library data pool you want to extend.

Steps

1.) Understand the overall Product Loading workflow for cabin design. The same general workflow applies throughout this tutorial:

  • In DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager: copy a similar BIM component, edit its meta data, determine related BIM components.

  • In DigiPara Liftdesigner: load your edited BIM component, load the Developer Work Area, use the Explanation of Parameters and Values, modify the simplified 3D geometry, save the BIM component back into the DigiPara BIM Library.

2.) Create the practice elevator project. Using the Shaft Wizard, create a project with:

  • 3 floors, typical floor-to-floor distance 3500 mm

  • Consider travel: No; Create building floor levels: No

  • Traction elevator, 2:1 roping

  • 13 persons / 1000 kg, 1 m/s

  • Top machine room

  • Car roping: 1 pulley top

  • Counterweight roping: 1 pulley top / rear

Then select the CabinApprovalDrawing sheet template.

Result

You understand the recurring copy/edit/relate/load/save workflow used throughout this tutorial, and have a practice elevator project ready to work in.
