Step 3 of 14: Understand the Cabin Design Walls Hierarchy and Copy All Levels

PL9.3: Copy a similar Car Design as well as Related Car Walls

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Car walls are built from three nested levels — from the smallest part up: Single Car Wall Panels, then Car Walls (front/rear/left/right), then the overall Car Design. This step copies all three levels; the next step assembles them together.

Prerequisites

  • Completed previous preparation steps in Liftdesigner.

Steps

1.) Understand the three-level roadmap. The build order is:

Review the Data tree overview to see how these levels nest inside each other.

2.) Find and copy a similar Car Design. In DigiPara Liftdesigner, find a similar Car Design component and note its manufacturer/BIM Library and RID. In Datamanager, copy it — the component is copied with all parameters and values into a new manufacturer / DigiPara BIM Library entry. Step through the 3-step copy wizard, then finish and open the new copy.

3.) Find and copy each of the four Car Walls (front, rear, left, right). For each of the four walls, find a similar component, note its manufacturer/BIM Library and RID, then copy it in Datamanager the same way.

4.) Find and copy the Single Car Wall Panels. Find a similar single wall panel component and copy it the same way.

Result

You have independent copies of a Car Design, all four Car Walls, and the Single Car Wall Panels in the DigiPara BIM Library, ready to be configured and assembled.
