Step 12 of 14: Create an Empty Parent User Component

EL1.12: Steel Shaft Practical Example

Written by Alexandra Göttert

This begins building a ring construction as a complete child object group — the expected result is shown once all the group's parts are finished.

Prerequisites

  • Corner profiles has been added and positioned.

Steps

1.) Understand the purpose of an empty parent user component. Add an empty main user component with an included base point to build a simple assembly by inserting further additional child objects into it (e.g. variable profiles). The whole additional child object group — with all its contained elements — can then be positioned anywhere in the elevator project as one unit.

2.) Add and define the empty user component. Add a new user component, and designate it as "Used as Zero Point". Assign its component group.

3.) Rename it. Give the empty parent user component a clear name.

Result

An empty parent user component exists, acting as the zero point for the child object group you'll build into it in the next step.
