Prerequisites
Additional dimension display options for detail sections and a dimension background color are configured.
Steps
Create a dynamic dimension
1.) Understand what a dynamic dimension is. Dynamic dimensions can be customized individually — they're non-standard DigiPara Liftdesigner dimensions that don't influence the 3D data model. For example, the width of a door package is not a default dimension.
2.) Set the global dimension setting for new dynamic dimensions. This setting applies to all dynamic dimensions you create from now on.
3.) Select the first and second dimension points. Select a component to make its dimension points visible, then move the mouse cursor over a point until the cursor text changes to DynDim and click to select it. Hold Ctrl while selecting a second component's point the same way, then release Ctrl.
4.) Create the dimension. With both points selected, the buttons in the Dynamic Dimensions group become enabled — click one to create a horizontal, vertical, or aligned dimension.
5.) Use Selection Mode if a component doesn't have enough points. Change the selection mode under the Project tab to allow selecting individual component profiles (rather than just the component as a whole) — this brings in additional standard points to choose from.
Offset a dimension point
6.) Add a static offset to a dimension point. Add a fixed value (positive or negative) as an x, y, or z-offset to a dynamic dimension point.
7.) Add a parametric offset from the Data tree. Instead of a fixed value, apply a Data tree variable as the offset — this can be combined with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division operations.
Result
You can create your own horizontal, vertical, or aligned dynamic dimension between any two component points — including cases where you need to switch to profile-level selection to get enough points — and offset a dimension point by either a fixed value or a calculated Data tree variable.
