Quickly add another size or configuration variant of an existing component by copying its data table row with the keyboard, instead of running the full Copy BIM Components wizard — the new row shares the same profile group as the source, so it inherits the same geometry logic and only needs its differing values changed.
Prerequisites
The component you want to duplicate already exists as a row in a DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager table.
Reviewer note: This is one of two ways to duplicate a component. Use this method for a quick size/parameter variant that should share the source's profile group (and therefore any dynamic properties, product options, or rules already defined on it). If you instead need a fully independent component with its own new profile group, use Create a New BIM Component by Copying an Existing One, which uses the Copy BIM Components wizard instead.
completely new component without dependencies
Steps
1.) Copy the source row. In DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager, select the row of the component you want to duplicate and press Ctrl+C.
2.) Paste it as a new row. Press Ctrl+V to insert the copy as a new row. The new row keeps the same *_PG_GRP (profile group) value as the source — this is what's different from the Copy BIM Components wizard, which always generates a new profile group.
3.) Edit the differing parameter values. In the new row, change whichever values distinguish this variant from the source (e.g. a different height or width column), then save.
Deleting a row
To remove a row you no longer need, select it and press Delete on your keyboard, then confirm Yes in the Delete Row dialog.
Result
A new component row exists with its own values, sharing the source's profile group — so dynamic properties, product options, and rules already defined for that profile group apply to the new variant automatically.
