Step 13 of 13: Define a Render Color for the Liftdesigner Profiles

PL5.13: Manage Render Colors and Surfaces

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Final part of the sequential Drives tutorial. This makes the native Liftdesigner profiles (the user component and the variable profiles) visually match the CAD model's color, so the transition between LOD levels looks consistent.

Prerequisites

  • The gear's geometry, LOD settings, product options, and rules are all finished.

Steps

1.) Select a similar render color for the user component profiles. Select the user component's profiles (holding Ctrl to multi-select), and set their render color to match the CAD model's actual color.

2.) Save the user component into the DigiPara BIM Library. Select the relevant developer section and save.

3.) Select a similar render color for the variable Liftdesigner profiles. Select the variable profiles (holding Ctrl to multi-select) and set their render color to match the CAD model the same way.

4.) Save the finished BIM component into the DigiPara BIM Library. Select the relevant developer section and save the gear.

Result

The user component and variable Liftdesigner profiles now match the CAD model's color, so the gear looks visually consistent whether it's shown as CAD geometry or as simplified native profiles.

Tutorial complete

This was the final step of the PL5 Drives tutorial. You've built a traction machine with an embedded CAD model, a reusable low-LOD user component, gear-specific variable profiles, individual LOD settings, rule-controlled product options (including CAD drawing dimensions), and matching render colors — a complete traction machine BIM component from source data to finished result.
