Step 1 of 8: Prepare the Datamanager and understand the Tank's Rows, Columns, and Modes

PL6.1: Knowledge & Preparation Steps

Written by Alexandra Göttert

This article is part of a strict, sequential step-by-step tutorial for building an oil storage tank BIM component — first using DigiPara Liftdesigner's standard tank geometry, then building fully custom geometry, and finally adding optional dynamic properties, a rule, and a custom tube position. Follow the steps in order — each later step builds on the result of the one before it.

Prerequisites

  • DigiPara Liftdesigner and DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager are installed, with write access to the data pool you want to extend.

Steps

1.) Choose your manufacturer library and add a record for a new tank.. In DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager, select the manufacturer module you want to add the new oil storage tank to. Add a new record for your tank. The edit marker at the start of the row must disappear before the new content is actually saved — to force this, open another table.

2.) Review the tank's basic description columns. These cover the tank's Description, Width, Depth, Height, and Max. Height as well as Base Width and Depth, Base Height, and Volume

3.) Review the user parameters and the Modes bitmask. The user parameters are Product Number, Min. Volume, and Max. Volume. The Modes column is a bitmask with three flags:

  • 1 — Tank Position in Machine Room Centre

  • 2 — Tank Position on Finished Floor

  • 4 — Do not use Standard Geometry

Result

A new, empty oil storage tank record exists under your manufacturer module, ready to have its parameters defined.

You understand what each column on the tank record controls, and what the three Modes flags do, before defining any values in the following steps.
