This article is part of a sequential step-by-step tutorial covering shaft groups, performance optimization, double deck elevators, face-to-face shaft group positioning, and sheet templates for shaft groups. Follow the steps in order — each later step builds on the result of the one before it. This first step combines the background knowledge you need on shaft groups with setting up the practice project.
Prerequisites
DigiPara Liftdesigner installed.
Steps
Basic knowledge
1.) Know the two ways to create group elevators. Group elevators can be created via a shaft copying operation, or via the Group Shaft Wizard (similar to the standard Shaft Wizard). Use the shaft copying operation for identical elevators, and the Group Shaft Wizard for different elevators.
Tip: Elevators can also be copied from one Liftdesigner project (.ld3) to another using copy and paste operations (Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V).
2.) Understand that copied/added shafts are fully independent. A copied or added shaft — including all its shaft components — is completely independent of the source shaft object. There are no links or references between them.
3.) Know the available creation methods. Create shaft groups via Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V on the keyboard after selecting the shaft geometry (for a quick copy operation), or via the Group and Shaft Configurator (to copy and create different elevators). Both are possible cross-project.
Preparation: create the practice project
4.) Create the practice elevator project. Using the Shaft Wizard, create a project with:
5 floors, typical floor-to-floor distance 3000 mm
Consider travel: No; Create building floor levels: No
Traction elevator, 1:1 roping
13 persons / 1000 kg, 1 m/s
Machine room: Top
Car roping: 2 pulleys below, without CW safety gear
Counterweight roping: 1 pulley top, counterweight right
Sheet templates: not necessary
Car size: width 1600 mm, depth 1400 mm
Entrances: front on all floors, rear on the first and last level
Individual floor-to-floor distances: Pit 1200 mm; E1 2900 mm; E2 3000 mm; E3 3000 mm; E4 3800 mm
Save it under the file name LDTrainingSampleGroups.ld3.
Result
You understand the two ways to build a shaft group — copying for identical elevators, the Group Shaft Wizard for different ones — that every shaft in a group is fully independent, and a practice elevator project exists ready to be turned into a shaft group.
