Step 13 of 16: Understand Sheet Template Recommendations and Configure View Frames for Shaft Groups

EL2.13: Sheet Templates Settings for Shaft Groups - View Frame

Written by Alexandra Göttert

Prerequisites

  • Completed Step 12 — building floor level settings are configured.

Steps

Recommendations

1.) Use separate view frames for each shaft. This gives easier maintenance and management of the views, clearer representation of individual elevators, and faster sheet loading times.

2.) Use rule-based detail sections. Build flexible detail sections that adapt to project changes via rules — for example, for shaft head and shaft pit representations.

Configure view frames

3.) Define the displayed shaft per view frame via Component Visibility. Use Component Visibility to define which shaft is displayed in each individual view frame.

4.) Switch shaft groups (banks) on/off per view frame via Visibility. Switch Bank 1 or Bank 2 on or off for a specific view frame.

5.) Define the displayed shaft for the whole drawing sheet via Properties. Set this at the sheet level so all views on that sheet refer to the determined elevator.

6.) Delete the shaft index from annotations. For example, for shaft size: Width: External$("Shaft0.WIDTH") x Depth: External$("Shaft0.DEPTH"). The reference refers to the currently selected shaft and can be used on any sheet.

Result

You know the two main recommendations for shaft group sheet templates — separate view frames per shaft and rule-based detail sections — and can control which shaft or bank is shown per view frame or per whole sheet, with annotations that reference "the currently selected shaft" generically.
