Step 1 of 9: Understand Manufacturer Modules and RID Areas

A4.1: Knowledge and Preparation Steps

Written by Alexandra Göttert

This article is part of a sequential step-by-step tutorial covering manufacturer modules and RID areas, module files, importing and exporting BIM libraries, a basic Product Loading workflow, integrating your own logo, and a final practice exercise. Follow the steps in order — each later step builds on the result of the one before it.

Before you start:

This tutorial assumes you're already familiar with the Datamanager itself — its ribbon, Table View categories, Quick Help, Tabledata Editor, and Annotate window. See What Is the Liftdesigner Datamanager? for all of that; it isn't repeated here.

Prerequisites

  • DigiPara Liftdesigner and DigiPara Liftdesigner Datamanager are installed, and you're familiar with the Datamanager's UI basics (see the note above).

Steps

1.) Understand what a manufacturer module stores. A manufacturer module stores manufacturer-specific information: elevator BIM component table data, and manufacturer-specific external files (DWGs, etc.). It can be imported to or exported from the active data pool as an .ldm12 file.

2.) Understand the manufacturer RID. Each manufacturer has a unique, global manufacturer ID (RID) — the MF_RID. Manufacturer IDs are administered via the L_ManufacturerTab table, under General Data → Basic Tables → Manufacturer.

3.) Understand the RID area's size and numbering. A maximum of 100,000 records can be added per manufacturer ID, per table. For example, 100,000 different car frames could be added for manufacturer ALGI to the car frame table — the first record would have RID 800,000, the last 899,999.

Result

You understand what a manufacturer module contains, how manufacturer RIDs are administered, and how a manufacturer's RID area is numbered.
